Campus Settings: Integration LTI

The purpose of this article is to guide the user on integrating Canvas using LTI 1.3 protocol

How to connect the Campus?

  1. Navigate to Campus Settings
  2. The “Campus Settings” screen is displayed
  3. Click on the "Integrations" tabUntitled design (20)-2
  4. Click the "Edit Client ID" button in the Canvas LTI card
  5. Input client ID (how to create Client ID Setup Canvas with LTI v1.3)
  6. Click the "Save" button
  7. The toast message "Canvas LTI has been connected Successfully" is displayed

How to connect the Course?

  1. Create a campus course with LTI integration
  2. Navigate to Course Settings
  3. Add the Deployment ID (how to create Deployment ID Setup Canvas with LTI v1.3)
  4. Click the "Save" button

How to connect Activity to a Canvas Assignment?

  1. Create a lesson with an activity in the LTI integration course
  2. Publish an activity
  3. Publish a course
  4. Lessons page
  5. Click on the three dots menu
  6. Click the "Copy LTI link" button
  7. In Canvas:
  8. Navigate to Course →  Assignments
  9. Click on the "+ Assignment" button
  10. Add an Assignment name
  11. Set the "External Tool" value for the "Submission Type" field
  12. Add LTI link (from the step 6 of current test)
  13. Check the "Load This Tool In A New Tab" checkbox
  14. Click the “Save” button
  15. Activities are now connected

How to Deep Link Activity as an Assignment In Canvas?

In IllumiDesk Application:

  1. Create an activity in the LTI integration course

  2. Publish an assignment

  3. Publish a course

In Canvas:

  1. Navigate to Course →  Assignments
  2. Click on the "+Assignment" button
  3. Add an Assignment Name
  4. Add Points
    1. Make sure this is equivalent to the total points achievable in the activity in the IllumiDesk application
  5. Set the "External Tool" value for the "Submission Type" field
  6. Select the Find Button listed under the External Tool Option
  7. Select the Magnifying Glass next to IllumiDesk tool
  8. You should now see a list of activities that you created in IllumiDesk Application
  9. Select the appropriate Activity in the list
  10. Click Save and Publish the Activity
  11. As a Student that has access to the Canvas course
    1. you can now launch the assignment from Canvas
    2. once you complete the assignment you can submit the assignment for grading
    3. Once the Instructor completes grading the assignment, they will sync the grades with Canvas. This will allow students to view their grades in Canvas by going to Course->Grades
      1. NOTE: Student can also view their grades next to their submitted assignments in IllumiDesk application
  12. As an Instructor that has access to the Canvas course
    1. you can now launch the assignment from Canvas
    2. if a student has completed an assignment, you can continue with grading in IllumiDesk Studio
    3. Once you complete grading, you can select the Sync with LMS button to sync student grades in Canvas
    4. After selecting this button, you can view student grades in Canvas by going to Course->Grades
